If you need help, the answer to your question is likely to be found on this page.
Who Created Sensory Planet?
Sensory Planet represents the vision and collaboration of many people. In addition to our contributing parents, we rely on the expertise and guidance of many professionals with respect to current research, news and treatment options.
Rich Fannin set up the web site and is the site's Technical Administrator. Site content and moderation is managed by his wife, Carrie. Carrie has been hosting parent meetings in Washington State for families who are raising kids with SPD for over 11 years. She is currently the International Coordinator for the SPD Parent Connections Program, a grass roots outreach program sponsored by The SPD Foundation. You can read more about Carrie and Rich by viewing their profiles.
Who Is Moderating Sensory Planet?
Carrie Fannin is the owner of Sensory Planet and has been providing support to families in Washington State for more than eleven years. Their local support group is 240+ families strong and is dedicated to community awareness events, fundraising, education and parent support efforts. Carrie and her husband have a teenage daughter who was diagnosed with SPD when she was six.
When you joined Sensory Planet, Carrie was added as your first "friend" so feel free to connect with her if you need help navigating the site -- or just need someone to talk to.
How Do I Change/Update My Profile Information?
To update your profile, you must visit the
Edit Profile page. You can move through the different parts of your profile by clicking the tabs at the top of the page (for example, you don't have to have the year you were born showing on your profile - click on the "About Me" tab and scroll up on the year to "--". Make sure you hit the "Save Changes" button before you move on to another tab!)
How Do I Delete My Account?
If you are absolutely sure that you want to delete your account, you can do so
here. Please note that your account will be permanently deleted and irrecoverable.
Can I Make My Profile Private?
Yes you can. Make your profile private by visiting the
Account Privacy page. Remember though -- by limiting the information you share on a social network, it reduces the collaborating you might otherwise be able to do with other families in your area. The goal of Sensory Planet is to build communities and help people connect with one another.
What Is The Blog For?
Whether you are a new or experienced blogger, plan to provide commentary or news on SPD or simply want to use utilize a personal online journal about your family's journey, our Blog feature is available for all Sensory Planet members.
The blog section isn't a great place to post questions though. Use our Groups for that -- our "All About SPD" group has a large membership; try posting there if you need some support.
What Are Classifieds?
Classified listings are a collection of sensory based products, books and resources that we have compiled and categorized for our members. Check these listings regularly, as we are reviewing new recommendations, reading books, testing products and getting feedback on an ongoing basis!
Can I Make A Recommendation For The Classifieds?
Absolutely. Resource sharing is an important part of Sensory Planet. If you have a sensory based product that you have found particularly useful, submit a detailed description (including the web site or store where you purchased it) to Carrie Fannin or Erica Ascher.
How Do I Join A Group?
Groups are set up as follows: groups just for parents, groups just for professionals, groups for support group hosts, a general discussion group for all users, and user created groups. Read the group description to make sure you are joining the appropriate group, then click the "Join This Group" button for entry.
Note: private groups will require authorization from the group owner before you will have access.
